Dave has left the building!
There are several things ONE would want to check
for a sudden loss of power under acceleration...
First place I would RECOMMEND is the OBD
(on board diagnostic) codes for any fuel pressure
or timing issues (beg, borrow or buy... scan tool...
(some muffler shops do this for free)).
If more than one DTC (diagnostic trouble code) points to air metering, oxygen or throttle body issues.. It's time to (slowly) take your accent down to the muffler shop and make sure a rusted/corroded catalytic converter and/or muffler is NOT blocking the EXHAUST.
(If you wait until that rusted baffle comes completely loose you will the be able to trouble-shoot a LOT EASIER
(car won't start at all)).
Hope this helps!
Do you have a check engine light on or flashing when it looses power?
