Flashing D4 lights and it jerks when putting it in R

check the transmission fluid. if its not this then I would suggest taking it in to a parts store to have the codes pulled on it..jm

You change the transmission control molcule (TCM).

what is the make and model

If the D4 light is flashing, you have a transmission control failure and you need to get your transmission and transmission control system checked out.

When my D4 light started blinking means VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) or Trans wrong: DIY Transmission Service (Filter + Drain)

This is an internal transmission failure the check engine light along with the D4 light flashing and the slipping is telling you this. What happens is the clutches internal in the transmission fail and no longer hold pressure and cause the transmission to fail triggering the check engine and D4 light.

Turn your ignition off.
Press and hold both your "select" and "reset" buttons by your instrument cluster.
While holding in both buttons, turn the key to the "on" position but do not start.
After 10 seconds the light should flash and go out.
Done.

If the d4 light is flashing you have to check the transmission for diagnostic codes. once you have this we can go further!
