My dodge caliber in stuck in neutral - Caliber Dodge Cars & Trucks

Are you able to move your shifter at all? If so, does the position 'p/r/n/d' indicator change?

the brake light switch control the shifter. replace the brake light switch.

There's a fuse that controls the instrument panel. Don't know the location it should be in owners manual.

Maybe a shift cable adjustment

Sounds like that may effect the
trans gear position sw,not the neutral
safety & the car shuts off

When it was jumped it was in a position that
it should be & started on time

fuel filter dirty,MAF sensor dirty,PCV valve open stuck,vacuum leak.

Any codes?

It could be your neutral safety switch. Try putting it in neutral and turning key. If it makes a difference you'll need to have the switch changed. Could also be a loose, broken or corrided wire on starter

Sounds like a possible brake switch problem. To verify this turn your key to the ACC position, put your car in neutral then try and start it. Not saying this is 100% the problem but it is a good place to start. Good luck!

could be the shifter needs an adjustment to line up properly - alternatively it may be the switch is loose when you put it into part, so that it doesn't click to release the "lock" indicator allowing the vehicle to start in park position... I think it is the alignment - needs adjustment.
