There are others but you have to ensure they are compliant and say ALL MAKES. Also only use the same color if the radiator has the red coolant use the red coolant if it has the green coolant use the green. The dexcool was originally red and was for aluminum engines but most of the older vehicles that used it have been converted.

Is Peak coolant ok for a Chevy Tahoe instead of the original DEXCOOL?

Yes. In fact, DEXCOOL is a disaster that gums up your system. The _best_ thing you can do is replace it. HOWEVER, you _must_ thoroughly flush the system. The two coolants are not compatible together.

Would it be better if I switched from DexCool to green Antifreeze for my 2000 Chevy Silverado, I have over 150,000 miles

i would stay with what you always use if it's not creating any problems!I have never heard anything good about dexcool! If it ain't broke don't fix it! I've been running green in my 99 jimmy and i'm at 250k.

What kind and color of antifreeze should I use in my 98 chevy surburban 5.7 vor tech v8?

The color is not important, some are red and some are yellow while others are the older green standard. Your original coolant was red, it is called DEXCOOL and is sold by the dealer parts dept. If you want to use another brand any coolant labeled "Extended Life" or Long Life" coolant is ok. Most of the newer coolants blend with any type of coolant, this is not true of the OEM DEXCOOL installed by the factory.

What kind of antifreeze does my chevy lumina need

There are two kinds of coolant that can be found in this car. Look to see what color it is, either pink or green. It came stock with Dexcool antifreeze. This is a pink colored antifreeze made for aluminum engines. If it is green DO NOT put pink in there. NEVER mix pink and green coolants together. There is no differences among the green coolants. All will work but some are better than others. Also there are 50/50 ready-to-use coolant gal. containers. This has water already added in the coolant. If you get one that does not have water added you will need to add water. These are usually better for your buck.

No heat

If it had dexcool orange coolant in it, the heater core is probably plugged, pull off the hoses and blow air through it, the dexcool breaks down and clogs everything. I had this problem a month ago and the core was plugged badly. Hope this helps

I have a 1999 Blazer 4.3 V-6 and am wondering what type of Anti-Freeze this vehicle uses. The green or the pink.

Dexcool is the correct antifreeze for the engine, but you can have it flushed out and use the green coolant if you prefer. The dis advantage is the green coolant needs to be replace at about 50,000 miles and the dexcool is 150,000 miles.

What type of coolent for 1999 chevy astro

Hello! Your van most likely still has the coolant that was in it from the factory - which would be DexCool. If you can see it in the coolant overflow, and it is orange-ish in color - it's DexCool (or possibly a DexCool-friendly brand). I would suggest a full, and thorough coolant system flush - and then refill with the green stuff. If your van does have DexCool - you CAN NOT mix it with anything that does not implicitly state that is compatible. If you do - it will harden and congeal and ruin your coolant system - and perhaps even your engine.

Hope this helps!

Dexcool vs Green coolant

Dexcool is an extended life coolant-you cannot mix the 2 or you you will have serious issues. If you are going to switch over the the dexcool from the green you need to flush the entire cooling system.
