The fitting on the fuel rail or you will have to use a adapter to the output side of the fuel filter

The wiring is different, if your Golf had headlights with H4 bulbs then changing to high beam turns dip off. The GTi has separate dip and high lights, on high beam dip stays on (all 4 bulbs on).

my first solution would be to check all the timing is set up properly and you will probably find that the distributor is not timed up right
