ahhhh 1.6L 4AFE it is, TOYOTA (cam belt failure is #1 not ECU)
the service manual is here and all that.
engine and ECU can be swapped and is PnP'
but ECU must match all options on car.(means check carefully)

No, ECUs have to be exact.

definitely has a anti-theft system ( immobilizer) You can't by-pass anything . Your best bet ,call a mobile lock smith . He can cut you a new key and program it to the vehicle computers

Which part of the ECU do you want to bypass and why? Performance, or to bypass a check light? If it is one of the normal codes or misfire bank x cylinder x it can be either a cat malfunction to any number of things.

Knowing whether you want to bypass the entire module (which you cannot due to just what ECU means(engine control unit)) but if you have a constant annoyance please reply with the issue and maybe we can help you to solve the reasoning behind wanting to bypass in the first place.

Ign is for ign , stop is for brake lights, s heater is for blower motor, ecu is for computer, ecu ign is for distributor, are you looking for a specific problem

The settings would be completely different - you will need the 1.8 ECU

first, there is an open recall for ecu problems on corolla, have your vin run by your toyota dealer to verify, hope you still have your old ecu,a new is around 1,800$ plus reprogram and re-write the vin on new computer, dont know if they will program yours(used) ask if there no other option.

i know in some corolla models the ecu is under the centre console say under the sterio area,,if not then its either in the left or right side dash under glove box or kick pannels try both sides...

The Corolla has an ECU which controls all aspects of the engine performance. There has recently been a recall issued for defective ECU's causing intermittent problems. Check with your local dealer for details, this is a warranty item.

The ecu doesnt have to be programmed for the car, it should start right up, unless its a bad ecu. Or a whole different problem. unless it has immobiliser.
