Turn the ignition key to 'ON' and press the odometer button until the display reads ODO (not Trip A or B).
Turn the ignition key to OFF.
Hold in the same button you used in step 1.
While holding the button in, turn the ignition key to ON.
The ODOMETER will change to:
5 dashes - - - - -
Then 4 dashes - - - -
Then 3 dashes - - -
Then 2 dashes - -
Then 1 dash -
THEN all zeros 0 0 0 0 0
Then back to the correct mileage.
Then the Maintenance Required light should blink and go out.

Hello Everyone, I am in need of some advise here, I have a 1995 Corolla, and THIS IS MY FIRST CAR, so I dont know mucch about cars, though I am very enthusiastic to learn about them. so I would like to...

The general rule is to change your oil and filter every 3000 miles, some heavy duty oils say 5000 miles. If you want to be sure go 3000 miles, change oil and filter and clean or replace your air filter and your car should last a long time.

The "MAINTANENCE" light on the dash is nothing more than a timer of sorts, every 5000 miles to be precise. Whenever you bring your Toyota in for a service, one of the last things they do is reset the MAINT light. There's a sequence to doing this yourself:

With the car key on ACC, set your odometer on mileage(not trip a or b) then turn ket off. then hold they button that switchs from odo and trip, then turn the key back to acc. while you are holding it down you will notice the maintenance light blink and go out. and then you are done.

Purchased focus sport 2006 model no service manual. Mileage 43,000 kms. Need to know service intervals either time/mileage perhaps a copy of the service schedule will suffice.

These maintenance intervals come from the maintenance interval calculator
at www.autozone.com, using a starting point of 25,800 miles (43000 km), and
assuming 1000 miles (1666 km) driven per month, and "severe driving conditions," which
are actually normal usage characteristics, such as frequent short trips, urban driving, waiting in traffic, driving in hot weather, trips under 16 km in cold weather, etc.

STARTING MILEAGE: 25800 (43,000 Kilometers)

I use an 01 highlander for over 1000kms, i want to be sure when my engine needs a change of engine oil.

You should change your oil at least every 3000 to 4000 miles or in your case every 4828 to 6437 kilometers. If you use fully synthetic oil you can do the change every 5000 miles or 8046 kilometers.

Hi, I'd like to know which oil I need for engine

Engine oil is a personal preference, brand anyway. You can use any kind of oil you want, all of it is tested and has to conform to the industry standards. The weight of the oil is what is important. Depending on where you live, the temp of the oil is rated in weight, 10 w40 is great multi viscosity oil, for high temp. Up north, straight 30 weight would be ok. Synthetics are ok, some people don't like them, they are old school, they change their oil regularly. If you change you oil every 3000 miles, you should never have a problem with the bottom of your engine.
Your transmission is different. A lot of newer transmissions are sealed to the owner. The dealer wants to get in there, If you don't have a dipstick to check the fluid with, you have to pull the plugs out of the side of the tranny to check it. One is for fill, the other is level. Transmission fluids are numerous, you have to get the right fluid in there. Most say what it is on the dipstick, but if you don't have one, you will have to go by the owner's manual. Transmissions go without fluids for long periods. Most people don't ever check them till something goes wrong. Check it out, hope this helps.

Changing engine oil every 5000 KM or every 2500?

The service duration is affected by many things.. If you are driving in a dusty atmosphere or doing a lot of high RPM but low gear driving, change the oil every 2500kms. if you do mainly highway driving with low rpm but top gear, change the oil every 5000 kms. As a rule, I always replace the oil filter at every oil change even though toyota says you dont have to.
