It means the car is nearly due for a scheduled service (intervals are first service at 1500km, then at 15,000km intervals). Normally the warning comes on 500km before the service is due - the distance can be changed by the dealer on request.

The 3 factors here are Fuel,Timing or Spark failing this its electrical. Follow fuel line from clear plastic fuel filter to engine and disconnect and turn key and see if fuel is spurting out, if so there is fuel to throttle body/efi system. Timing is not likely to be an issue if it ran fine when stored. Spark can be tested by taking a spark plug lead off a spark plug and putting a screw driver in it and sitting it a couple of mm of the engine block and having someone turn the key, spark should jump across between the screw drivwer and the engine block. It has to be very very close but not touching. Spark wont jump more than say 5mm.
