Are the radio codes specific to model or each individual car

AnswerThe radio code feature of Daewoo models (sold in the US from 1998 - 2001 as Leganza, Nubira, and Lanos) is meant to be an anti-theft security feature, but unfortunately it can also present a problem to legimate owners when their car batteries have died or been replaced. When the radio is removed from the power source (or the power source is interrupted), the radio will reset itself (prevent any use) and flash "CODE" until the proper code is entered.
Each radio has a specific four-digit code, which was originally provided on a plastic card within the owner's manual kit. You can also try calling your original Daewoo dealer, who hopefully still has some technical materials and personnel to help you identify your unique code. Some General Motors dealers may be able to help, as GM acquired Daewoo and still sells Daewoo-made cars in the US under their Pontiac and Chevy brands. But all methods above may be difficult for an individual detailed problem such as obtaining your unique radio code.

I am posting these because - although the code feature was a valuable anti-theft feature - there have been no models sold in the US since late 2001, and the radios are now undoubtly worthless to theives. At this point, the radio code feature can only be a major nusance to an owner of a still-running used Daewoo. Good luck and enjoy your car!

Each code is individual to the serial number of the radio. There is no standard master code for this radio. You will need to remove the radio to find its serial number on a label at the back.

For radio codes for Renault and many other models I can recommend this site.

Just enter the serial details and you will have your code sent right back to your email or mobile phone. Use them regularly for radios that I repair and can confidently recommend them.

No unfortunately there is no generic code that will work. The code is linked to the individual serial of the radio.

Thankfully there is a means of retrieving the code and it is not too expensive from this link. You will need to provide the serial number and radio part or model number of the radio in the case of Chrysler.

you don't want to hear this but radios are coded to individual vehicles, and the codes are not available to the general public via media, only the dealer can help

As part of the radio's anti-theft system on some older model year vehicles (2002 and older), the radio resets itself whenever it loses power from the vehicle's battery. Radio security codes are associated with each individual radio unit rather than the vehicle identification number (VIN) (since a vehicle could have the radio replaced). The radio security code must be input in the radio in order for the radio to work.

When you purchased your vehicle, you should have received a card that lists the four digit security code for the radio. If you are unable to locate this card (sometimes owners find it inserted in the Owner's Manual or glove box), the radio will need to be removed so that you can locate the Part Number and Serial Number for your specific radio. The Part Number typically begins with the letters 'MR' and the Serial Number is generally a string of digits and both numbers can be located on the audit unit's chassis.




Please contact your local Authorized Mitsubishi Dealer if you need assistance removing the radio. Once the Part Number and the Serial Number are in hand, your Dealer can access the security code for that radio. The security codes are meant to be different for each individual radio, so you need the code for your specific unit. If the original owner didn't keep a note of it you'll have to get it through DaimlerChrysler. Just give them the serial number of your radio (you may need to do this through your local Jeep dealer).
