My A/C has been fixed several times now. Currently it works blows cold air ONLY when on the freeway at high speeds. I have had them install a New Condensor 1st Diognosis, that did NOT fix it, now I was told it's because the Expansion Valve is bad, so I bought one, they installed it and.... It still didn't fix the problem. THey have told me that the New Compressor is defective. I'm picking up a Replacement Compressor, but what is going on here? This is my trusted mechanic who has done wonderful work on my car for 13 years?
I have known some very good mechanics that weren't so hot when it comes to A/C. It sounds like you have replaced just about everything except the evaporator, I hope that isn't it. It sounds like a restriction somewhere, or maybe that compressor you are replacing again. BUT... The actual charge on the refrigerant is very critical. It is very easy to get it undercharged or overcharged unless someone does it that really knows how to do it correctly. It should be evacuated completely, like on a good suction pump overnight, and then carefully charged while monitoring the temperatures at both ends of the refrigeration cycle.
