The Coil is the distributor cap.. Its a one piece deal that handles all 4 plugs. The firing Order on the coil/cap is 4-1-2-3,,, Looking from front to rear.. or left to right depending on how the coil is situated.. Hope this Helps
SOURCE: i have an 89 k3500 454 tbi not getting fire to
Pulled this out of a dark spot in my mind... check that the coil mount screws have not pushed through to the inside of the cap causing an internal short, pulling spark to ground. if distributor is new pickup coil should be ok but check for broken wires there just in case. Also if you have a tach, disconnect it from distributor. If internally shorted it won't get spark.
SOURCE: No spark?
Hi, common thing with the mazda was the coil or the ignition amplifier going faulty, both of which are located within the distributor, the coil ususally gives the symptoms you describe, a weak spark. The coil is the most common failure aswell for your vehicle i would recommend a new one, also make sure distributor is spinning as it could just be a case of a broken timing belt.
Good luck Davelee
SOURCE: no fire. replaced ignition coil, distributor,
Check for a camshaft/crankshaft sensor located just behind the harmonic balancer near the water pump. (depends on which engine you have)
