Hello Sibusiso,

(From the 2009 Corsa Owners Manual)

Your Immobilizer system checks whether the engine is allowed to start with the key being used. If the transponder in the key is recognised, the engine can be started.

The electronic immobiliser activates itself automatically after the key has been removed from the ignition switch. If control indicator "spanner light" flashes when the ignition is on, there is a fault in the system; the engine cannot be started.

Switch off the ignition and then repeat the start attempt.
If the control indicator continues flashing, attempt to start the engine using the spare key and seek the assistance of a workshop.

See 2009 Owners Manual at the link below.

Vauxhall corsa 2008 1.2 won't start spanner flashing

Australia?
well; that 2nd key does not look like the lost one.(right)
we can see it but my car has 2nd key that only does doors.
I guess that spinner is IMMO locked out engine
and can not be hacked.
your users manual in the glove box explains IMMO and all keys types that work there..
scan the PCM see what it fails,I bet it says wrong or blank key used.
never have just one IMMO key or repairs can be costly and tows.
call and automotive lock smith to home (or location), the love calls like this.$$$$$$$ called ching ching, bread and butter.

I have an Opel Corsa Bakkie B. It sparks and supplies petrol but doesn't want to start, flashing engine light please help?

Question edited to add maker.
Question moved from Computers and Internet.

The flashing engine light is the key. Connect it to a OBD2 scan tool and the code will tell you where the problem is. Garages will normally read the codes for free in the hopes of getting the work. A local garage will drive to you with a scan tool. It takes 3 minutes. Have a cold Fosters ready for him.

Flashing spanner light corsa 1.7dti engine turns but don't pick up

You need to have the fault code/s read with an OBDII reader. this will tell you what is wrong.

1.9 dti opel pick up wont start

It could be an Immobilizer fault, if the spanner /car light comes on.
If you have a spare key, try it
A Flashing spanner light normally means immobiliser fault hence the non-start. The spanner light left might just be an indication that it has stored the "wrong transponder" code.
Opel will have to clear this but you might need a CIM as well that is the bit that reads the key to allow it to start.
Try the spare key if you have one

On 1.7 DTi models, a defective solenoid in the pump can cause failure of the ECU due to excessive current draw causing components to burn out. but this *should* cause other fault codes to appear.

Autoshutdown keeps turning on

which engine???????????????????????????
ASD is tricky on jeeps.
The Auto shutdown,relay.
what is it , how does it works is covered in the fsm. read it.
http://www.jeep4x4center.com/knowledge-base/index.htm?utm_source=cj#service
The ECU runs this RELAY, and if the ECU sees a gross error
it shuts this down, and the schematic there is clear as to what.
both spark and fueling.
here is what can drop it out.
1: crank sensor.
2: cam sensors or TDC ,etc.
3: sees spark dead or weak.
4: Immobilizer active. (failed)

as the book says , make sure spark is good for the 2 seconds cranking. (not after the 2seconds)
the ECU is programmed like this.
user cranks.
ECU creates spark,, using the crank/cam sensors at the time base
for 2 seconds
if the spark read back fails or the 2 sensors fail, the ecu shuts DOWN.
this is for fire prevention.
most other cars just cut the injectors, but not jeep
the drop the MAIN ASD relay.

using the check engine light flash codes, you can see which of the
3 failed, cranking for 5 second and releasing the key on all cars.
1996 and newer a scan tool is use to same effects.

now the 64,000 dollar qustion,
see page 8w-30-4
why does the ASD KILL THE IGNITION coil. easy.
1: it only guess it 2 seconds to make spark
2: if it cant,. it then drops the relay. killing fuel too.
3: this prevents the the crash and burn you see on TV.

so its 2 second permissive system. (or 3?) i forget exact seconds, its in then book and is short.
many dont know this. but is a fact.

now the flash codes.
crank for 5 seconds while in flash code mode
see emmisions page for how.

flash code 11 drops the ASD ! (cam or crank sensor dead)
code 54 cam signal dead?
code 43, spark bad.

I changed the distributer in my 1994 jeep grand Cherokee and Shiite will not fire

cranks ok but will not start,
so no spark, right> (and actual test not guessing)
all spark plugs, dead each fails for spark, or just 1 or 2????
using a fresh test spark plug, case grounded?
behold i see dead spark at all cylinders example.
1: check all fuse first (always)
2: key on, CEL must glow, if not fix that first.
3: i insert the diagnostic jumper and key on and the CEL flashes codes.
4: I crank engine for 5 seconds,
5: i release key not off
6: i look at my CEL, it flashes and tell is if CMP or CKP are dead
via there own unique codes.
i bet now , you are on track.
