I could not find the speed sensor location on my 98 mercury mountaineer. Where is it?

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

can't remember, but look on the trans tailshaft, transfer case or the rear differential...usually it's in one of those three places.

Where is fuel rail pressure sensor high input located on a mercury mountaineer

If you are talking about a trouble code for the pressure sensor, the sensor may be telling the computer the fuel pressure is too high. The sensor is mounted in the fuel rail on the engine.

Can anyone help with an intermittent starting issue with a '98 mercury mountaineer?

If the motor turns over, but not start. Have the "crank shaft sensor" checked/replaced Ford part# 184768 $27.98 parts $230.00 labor). I chased this problem for several years. The crank sensor finally failed completely and the mechanic was able to find the problem.
Good luck
