It could be the TPS sensor or the Fuel pump not building enough pressure to open your injectors. The dealer could hook it up to there computer and tell you what the problem is right off so you don't have to pay a bunch of money on a guess

That could be caused by any number of thing's . Cam , crank sensors Etc.. Your best bet is to have it diagnosed by a qualified repair shop .

Check your plug wires at the plug for spark. Most likely loosing spark. Could come from distributor, cap, rotor, plug wires or coil. If you no spare at the wires, see if it has spark from the coil. Please report back and we will go from there.

Why is a 1990 ford ranger 2.3L hard to start hot?

Could be numerous things, but I would start with replacing the ignition coil, then the wires and spark plugs. If it cranks slow then it could be the starter. When wires get hot, they have less capacity to carry electricity.

1985 Ford ranger died and will not start....getting gas..have fire to the distrubutor, will turn over but not start.

You have fire to the Distributor, but do you have fire at the plugs? The 4 cylinders had an external timing belt behind a shroud. Look to see if you broke a timing belt. Or you could have a bad stator or module in the Distributor.

Check the ignition module its usually a silver box bolted onto the Firewall or fender on the right side. Replace it.

I was going uphill and engine light started flashing and i was loosing power.it does this often.

sounds like you have a misfire this can come from several parts start by replacing the cheapest with out a scanner its hard to tell you where to go but it will be in the spark plugs,wires or coil pack. good luck.

My 2001 ford ranger is hard to start turn the key for 5 seconds let off turn again and starts right up let it sit for 15 to 29 min and hard to start again changed injectors plugs and coil pack runs better...

sounds like fuel pressure bleeding off. Bad fuel pump or bad pressure regulator on fuel rail. Can you hear pump run for 5 seconds when you turn key on? do this twice, 30 deconds apart and see if it starts ok.

When was the last time you changed your plugs wires ...spark plugs ...rotor ...and cap ....how about your fuel filter ....and air filter ect ....do you have coils ?if so ...maybe they need replacing too ....
