An automatic will not roll back on a gentle hill, but could do so on a steep hill. God-Bless! The torque convertor can only hold back if the grade is not to steep.

Kia picanto 1100 starts but doesnt want to rev up

Hi,there is a common fault on these cars, that is the cranksharft snaps just behind the crank timing gear, this causing the ignition timing to run at minus and thus the car gets spark after petrol has been injected.the car will run rich and also damage the plugs.the pick up sensor can also be faulty.this can all be checked by taking the bottom cover off and checking, except the sensor has to be checked with diagnostis scanner.most likely it is the broken crank.if u in the Durban area I can help you.

Car starts up fine, but will not change gear, won't reverse, neutral, drive, etc. what could be the problem, do i really need a whole new transmission maybe

Have you check the ****** fluid level? Even if it's run out it may still be fixable if you add fluid. Although likely cause is a bad ****** unfortunately. It's a huge pain to replace too. :(

Something else to try as well (assuming you mean automatic ******) is check if it will roll freely in Neutral but not roll freely in Park? It could be that the shift cable connecting your shifter to the ****** is broken or disconnected.

Where is camshaft sensor located on kia picanto 1.1

Remove Air filter and all related housings including right hand side next to battery. Sensor is underneath fitted horizontally into camshaft end housing and front facing. Electrical connection also faces front.. Remove electrical connector. Fixing bolt is underneath sensor. Warning - on removal some oil will escape.

Gear question

Assuming this is a standard transmission, you always have it in 1st gear. Roll back is controlled by balancing the clutch with the gas pedal.

If an automatic transmission, then the vehicle should hold itself on the incline, unless it is a steep incline, to which you may use the gas pedal to hold the vehicle on the slope, and not the brake. And you would always have the transmission in the main drive gear position.
