Why on my Ford Fiesta 1.4 2006 model after about driving 6kM does the analogue speedo dial stops reading and then after a couple of kM's after that the digital display goes blank?

Have tried to check electrical connections. But really I don't know where to start checking and for what.

I think you just have a failed dash display module, the whole thing is just a computer that takes info from sensors and converts it to readable analog data like speed, miles driven and so on for engine functions.

Testimonial: "Yadayada, This answer makes sense. Just a daunting task to remove the dash display module. Any tips on how to do this?"

Take a look for instructions on YouTube. I haven't removed one yet. I will say that no instrument cluster has ever taken more than 20 minutes to remove. I was Ford dealership technician for 26 year's so have a huge experience base. Good luck.

SOURCE: Fault code P1000 [18,2,10,0],Ford Fiesta 2005

P1000 means that you or someone has disconnected the battery, and the car has not been driven far / long enough for the computer to relearn its stratagies.
Engine light could be the fault of the speed sensor, or wiring to the sensor.

Hi, I have a 52 plate ford fiesta with intermittent speedo problems. Speedo goes off and engine light comes on. Any ideas? Sharon

Hi,

When your Engine Check light comes on, it means your computer has detected a fault and wil have stored the code in your computer. This code can be read by your local Ford dealership, using an OBDII scan tool.

An intermittent speedo problem is probably caused by an issue with the Vehicle Speed sensor (or wiring), which is mounted on your transmission case (see No. 7 in diagram below):

As you have indicated your vehicle is 2011, you should have this issue rectified under the New Car Warranty and repaired at no cost.

I've got a 1991 BMW 525i which has done 253,000 km. It's been a good car but, the instrument panel on the dashboard has gone silly over the past couple of weeks. When I first start the car in the morning,...

this is just a rough guess, but i think it would be the battery or the alternator. Some part store have testers that they will check both for free.

My ford fiesta speedometer has stopped working

Several Suggestions,1 the wiring on the back of the Instrument panel, corrosion found on many early focuses to circuitry on binnicles, another is the sensor on the back of the gear box,not easily accesable but under £30 for part if fit self, nearer £140 and no guarentee at Garage! Failing this look on web pages for others having same issues..theres enough of them!
