You really need a friend that has some tools to come and help you replace the pump. All the tools you need are 1/2 drive breaker bar and ratchet, 1/2 X 10,12 inch extension, 1/2 drive X 13mm or 15mm socket. This gets the tank straps off. Screwdriver for the tank hoses. A Jack. A hammer and screwdriver to get the sending unit cap/retainer off. Another person to help you steady the tank that has gas in it. You also have to remove evap and gas lines. Since you are wanting to save from the $700 garage price, I suggest a manual or friend that has done this before. $30 for the manual, cookout steaks for a friend.
Common wrench set, sockets and ratchet sets and a good gasket scraper tool.

if your gauge was working prior to the replacement, then I'd suspect a loose electrical connection. There should be 2 plugs going to the fuel pump module (pump + sender are one piece unit) in the fuel tank. One for the pump, naturally the other for the gauge (two wire socket). If connections are tight, you may have a faulty pump module,or the installer may have damaged the sender upon replacement. I hope this helps.

well the pump is in the fuel tank and it depends if the tank is full or not if it is its very heavy and you will need a jack and 1 other person to help you there are two fuel lines to unhook and the electrical connector. When replacing it replace the entire fuel pump/sending unit and the electrical harness or you will end up having more problems also spend the extra 15$ and replace the fuel filter

take the six bed bolt loose and then take three buddies slide the bed back put in the new pump slide it back n place and put the bed bolts back in. if u drop the tank u can easily break the hard plastis lines that go to the fuel tank. u only have to take the fill lines and taillight wires loose this way its alot quicker, and easier.
