Why is steering hard at idle on GMC safari - 1997 GMC Safari

Power steering pump might be out, Check fluids in the power steering fluid resivor, Should say steering fluid only,

its on the drivers side of the engine. Its kind of low so it might be hard to see.

you need to find out if its comming from the pump, steering colum, or hose and where ever you lind the leak replace that part.

Try waggling the steering wheel while attempting to turn the key.

A drag link is another name for one of the steering arms that connect to your steering gearbox. It usually has at least one Tie Rod end, and another connection to the steering linkage. Do you have a check engine light on? Is this a 4.3 with central port injection? If it's running real rich it might have a fuel leak inside the intake, either a fuel pressure regulator leaking or a feed line to the injector.

the idle isn't adjustable. you might want to have the idle air control motor checked out. they are prone to sticking in the open position allowing more air into the intake

You either crushed a line or a cooler for the power steering. The brakes are hydro boost so the braking power comes from the ps pump.
