Nope not the fuel filter .
fuel filters get backed up and slow the car down not cause it to die and then restart.
sounds like an ignition module.take the ignition module out and have it tested for free at autozone.i think the module is getting hot and turning off.then cooling a bit and restarting untill it gets hot again.

hope this helps
thank you

Yes - but there are two filters. One is in the fuel tank, the other in the fuel line. You should change both.

1998 dodge caravan keeps dying but starts right back up

I'd start by replacing the fuel filter, if it hasn't been replaced recently, that might be the cheapest fix, if that doesn't solve it, it sounds like a fuel pump, have the pressure coming out of it checked before dropping the fuel tank to get to it.

A 1998 gmc Sierra driving down road at 60 and it just died replaced ignition module and in line fuel filter and now It won't even try's to start

Have you checked the fuel pressure? I think that the fuel pressure is between 55 or 60 pounds. They won't run under 52 pounds.

98 sentra starts and runs great. drive it about 50 feet and loses power and dies. starts right back up then go 50 feet and the problem repeats itself. only code was cylinder 3 misfire. also changed fuel...

It is probably a carberator problem your intaking to much fuel or oxygen So what i would do is check the little buble in the the carberator that stops the fuel when enough fuel is in the carborator it might need replacing

I was driving my 1998 talon and the motor died.

Could be lots of things...bad grounds for battery, no spark to plugs bad plug wires, bad fuel filter or pump.

Engine dies but starts again but won't continue to run . Was driving home last night and all of a sudden noticedI was losing speed and couldn't excilerate. Pull over and engine died but I could restart it....

You may need a new fuel filter. When you start the engine all the particles in the filter begin to dam up until they choke off the fuel entirely. When the engine dies the particles fall back down allowing enough fuel flow to start the engine and the whole pocess repeats itself. Thanks, Dana
