An automatic will not roll back on a gentle hill, but could do so on a steep hill. God-Bless! The torque convertor can only hold back if the grade is not to steep.

Going up hill, the truck starts to buck its not shifting out of over drive?

I don't know year--make--model? If you shift from od to d, does the problem go away? If so, I agree with you, sounds like a tranny issue.

I used to have a vehicle that did the same thing, Always on the same steep hill. I'd shift into D until I crested the hill then back into od.

I realize my post doesn't help you fix it.

Car rolls back when you let off the gas

This is not uncommon. Pretty much any vehicle that does not have what is called "Hill Assist" is going to want to roll backwards when on a hill and the brake pedal is released. Millions of vehicles are not designed to remained stopped in place, on a hill, with no brakes applied.

It bogs down when you go up a hill or when you give it full throtle

I had the same problem with mine, it did not pick up speed on the hills and max at 35mph on steep climbs. It ended up being a diaphram on the back of the carborator that does not come in the carb rebuild kit so you will have to find a carborator specialist in your area and see if they carry it. That diaphram controls the secondaries for the extra horse power needed for picking up speed and going up hills.

I have 2 problems with my 2000 5.9 dodge 4x4 first it is very hard to start if parked facing up hill downhill it fires right up.second it decelerates while driving it will go back to an idle pump the pedal...

check the fuel regulator ,parking up hill sounds like the fuel is leaking off pressure and going back to tank,when you park down hill,gravity is keeping the fuel pushed in the lines

Losing power going over hill

well i think the piston ring are already loose, causing insufficient air compression leading to lower power especially on uphill tracks. check also for the air-fuel ratio! too much fuel usually is the cause for thick smoke emission; too much air, causes also less power.

CVT problem

Simple answer, no, it will not most likely cause any increased wear to your engine or transmission. Yes, it is normal for the engine to rev while climbing a hill while in cruise control.

The cruise is designed to be used on flat (or semi-flat) stretches of highway at 55mph or higher so you don't have to hold the fuel pedal the whole time and your foot doesn't get tired. The cruise control system will try it's best to keep your vehicle rolling at the set speed, increasing/decreasing the throttle to compensate for changes in engine load.

If you are driving with cruise on, try lightly putting your foot on the pedal and you might notice that the system will actually move the pedal itself. If you are in cruise, and you come up to a large hill, try putting your foot on the pedal and getting it up the hill on your own w/o cruise then resetting cruise once you are off the hill.

Also, cruise is not supposed to be used in moderate/ thick traffic or on country roads with a lot of rolling hills. The cruise control system is a "dumb" system meaning (not that it's pointless) but it will only change the pedal as the speed changes and it has no idea what's coming up next, even while you are already on the hill.

So, it is normal operation of the cruise control to try to compensate for a hill by constantly revving up the engine and letting it fall back down to try to keep moving at the exact same speed you set it for. If this is a bother, you can always use your foot to hold the pedal while climbing the hill normally.

Transmission Issue

Is the fluid level ok, was the governer still in place when the gov cap popped off, have you dropped the trans pan to see if the filter popped out and is it possible that you only get enough fluid to the pump pickup when on a hill?? just a few ideas
