Well stiff or a hard pedal when the engine is off is normal.
Pedal going to floor is a faulty master cylinder or low on fluid, or air in the lines.

BRAKES BLED PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR WHEN STARTED

if a master cylinder is bad and you are sure you have all the air out and no leaks.pedal will go to floor , running or not. if booster is bad it will cause a hard pedal. but if master cylinder is bad it will turn on a brake light on dash if it works. make sure the wheel cylinders are not leaking. I beleive that the master cylinder is bad, or you have a leak somewhere. If the master cylinder is functioning properly, the brake pedal will depress to a certain depth and no further.

I have a 1994 bonneville that you have to push brake pedal to floor and fluid empties within 1 day. Is it the master cylinder or the line?

check all brake lines and wheel cylinders for leakage. if no leaks its probably the master cylinder. symtoms are-- pedal will sink to floor when stopping or not. or master cylinder leaks from behind "it", and runs down brake booster. if booster goes bad the pedal will be very hard! good-day !

98 wrangler - brake pedal goes all the way to the floor. The master cylinder and all brake lines are free of leaks. I'm not losing any brake fluid anywhere. I replaced the booster that is attached to the...

You changed the master cylinder and vacuum booster and have no leaks anywhere, but did you bleed the entire brake system after you did this work? A little bit of air in any of the lines will make the brakes ineffective.

Brake pedal goes to the floor? replaced all the brakes and bled them. worked for very short time and now the pedal goes to the floor.

If the fluid level is staying constant then it sounds like the brake master cylinder or the master cylinder booster. If the seals are bad on the master cylinder the piston just goes through the fluid. Many boosters use air pressure to assist in the braking proces and it could have a leak.

With motor running, brake pedal goes to floor and swoosh of air is heard

Could be brake booster leaking. When engine is off the brake pedal should be firm and not go to the floor. If the pedal goes to the floor engine off, there may be a master cylinder problem also.

I have a 1998 chevy s10 it has a good brake pedal with the engine off but with it running the pedal go'es to the floor and you can hear air at brake booster

Check for fluid leaks and your brakes. If you see no leaks and your brakes are in good shape replace the brake master cylinder and bleed the system. The air you hear is because the pedal went to the floor. If the booster goes bad the pedal will get so hard you can hardly push it at all. I think you will find if this happened suddenly either you have a major leak or the master cylinder went bad.

1994 ford explorer will not stop, I have replaced the brake pads,

My vote would be the Master Cylinder.
I had a truck sit for 4 years. After getting running again, it did the same thing you're describing. No brakes. I ended up replacing the Master Cylinder to fix the problem. Just make sure you bleed the system real good.
