the fobs die at 10 years old easy.
the buttons inside ,mine failed now 2times.

the buttons have switches in mine, gold plated

The battery light flashing is an indication of an intermittent short. The intermittancy seems to be caused by a "hung" relay or a partially welded relay that is not releasing its contacts. Try going to the relay and fuse box under the hood and pulling one relay at a time to see if the observed action stops. If it does, replace the faulty relay. If not go to the fuse box under the dashboard and do the saqme thing!
