Change your MAS Mass Air Sensor this will exhibit the problem you have if it is dirty. You can try cleaning it, yet it is normally easier just to replace it

If the engine seems to run fine over 1450 RPM maybe there is a vacuum hose leaking or EGR valve is slightly stuck open. Any help from the OBD II trouble codes? Or is there simply no MIL and no stored information in the OBD II computer read at the local parts store through the connector by the drivers knee?

this cars are known for bad distributor caps, also clean the throttle body.also how about the coil, thats not arching is it?.another the to look at would be the oxygen sensor it may be running rich or lean, take a look at these things and see what you have there, also check the injectors resistance, specs are 1-2 ohms. one more thing to look at is the egr valve, make sure its not opening @ idle.good luck. easy to see if the clutch is causing this problem and that by have car in neutral and see if it runs rough, this way if clutch isnt completly disengaging it wont matter in neutral.
SOURCE: runs real rough up to 1500 rpm and dont hardly idle
Change your fuel filter for starters. I'm assuming you keep up with tune ups so plugs and wires wouldn't be the issue. If you haven't changed your PCV valve in a while I woud change it, or at least clean it. That plays with all sorts of systems. And finally, the most irritating one. the EGR valve. They can cause all sorts of problems so the symptoms can be all over the place. Aside from killing your performance, they also confound mechanics by behaving like other problems. Good luck.
