2003 CRV Engine Light Code 1457 keeps coming back on after delete

2003 Honda CRV. Check Engine Light, Code 1457, will stay off for about 2 weeks then come back on. New gas cap, smoothed cap surface and verified surface is flat. Hoses appear to be okay. We do drive on gravel for 2 miles leaving the house. Why does it take so long for the check engine light to come back on? Dale

Honda CRV Code P1457 Honda CRV EVAP Solenoid

  • Anonymous May 22, 2016

Thanks Dennis! I watched every Youtube video about code 1457 but cannot prove which or where the problem originates. Is the evap solenoid the same as the bypass solenoid and if so, would rough road vibration affect the solenoid function. Thanks Dennis. Dale

Local Autozone store should be able to get your codes for free. Maybe charm your local Honda dealer to do it for free too.

P1457 honda light off but still reads code

The light on the dash, should do a bulb check when you first start the car. (bulb should illuminate for 3 seconds) after that the light will go out. then if there is a code in the computer it will come right back on . bulb could be burned out. a po 1457 is a evap code which is fumes or fuel vapores from the fuel tank .these fumes go through vacuum lines from the tank, back to the vacuum canister under the hood. then these vapors are purged to the engine to be burned with the fuel. you need to check all vacuum hoses going from the tank ,to the charcoal canister (vacuum canister) this is most cases about the size of a coffee can .around the front of the engine compartment. black plastic. with vacuum lines going to it. if there is a vacuum hose cracked, or off .it would cause a po 1457. service manual says- evaporative emissions ( evap) control system leakage (evap canister system) this problem is hard to repair eve for the skilled tech good luck

Check engine light came on. computer found code P 1457? Honda accord 2000 2.3 litre Thanks

1457 is a leak in the charcoal canister or its plumbing system. my money says its in your plumbing. clogged/disconnected lines.

really though, the 1457, could be anything in your evap emmissions system. canister purge solenoid, 2 way bypass valve, fuel tank pressure sensor, canister vent shut valve, alot of rubber hoses, alot of hard plastic lines, evap canister, etc, etc, ect, etc.blah, blah, blah.

a good DIGITAL multimeter and vacuum pump will ease your pinpointing.

im not sure if haynes or helms carry the info on troubleshooting this problem, but, if they do, it'll be good as a reference map.

PS: my problem was with the two way valve.

2006 CRV - VSA light and triangle are lit? What

The vsa and check engine light cam on because their is a fault in the system that needs to be looked at.To be on the safe side i would check the oil and transmission fluid .
Try doing a reset. Disconnect battery for a minute, this will clear the code ( light ). If the light comes back then take it auto zone or dealer to have the code read.
You can have the codes read for free at your local parts store like auto zone.
Have them scan it and let me know what the codes are.

I have engine light on and code 1457 on 1999 Odyssey. Please help!!!!!!!!!

That code is "evaporative emission control system leakage. (evap. canister system)"

this code takes at least two drive cycles to set. You can try to reset the engine light and emission computer and clear the code and see if the code resets. If it stays clear, it was probably a spurious code. To reset the engine light and emission computer, pull the No. 13 "clock/backup" (7.5A) fuse in the front passenger's kick panel fuse box. Wait at least 10 seconds. Put the fuse back in. This should put the check engine light out. If the light comes back on after two drive cycles (that is; start, run for a while, turn off X 2) have it checked out by a mechanic.

Reset honda crv check engine light

You can't reset it. That light is on because there's a problem with the emissions system, like a bad o2 sensor & such. Go to your local autozone & have them pull the trouble code out. Message back for the fix & the light will be out.
