Getting error code U0414 P0118,P2060F what does that mean and what parts do I need to change for my ford escape 2008

With all these codes you need a professional to help fix this, you will likely throw parts at it and still not fix it. If you do want to try a repair at very least go on eBay and try and find a used factory repair manual set. If you google each code the explanation of the code will show, but it will only give you a system of the car, that means it can be a sensor or a part or the wiring or the computer that runs the system. Good luck

I have a ford excape 2008 and it is overheating. i have connected the fan staright and it does not overheat, what could be wrong

You have several problems I looked up the codes in the database
U0414 means invalid data received from four wheel drive clutch control module
P0118 engine coolant temp circuit high input
P260f evaporative system monitoring processor performance
I believe the overheating is caused by a bad relay. The p0118 code is not for the sensor it is for the circuit. Check the relays for the fans in the fuse box in engine compartment

P0118 code

Make sure you didn't accidentally unplug the ECT sensor or damage the wires. If visual inspection checks out ok clear the code and verify it comes back. If it does probably need a new sensor and or thermostat, pay attention to your temperature gauge. If it acts erratic or definitively different then normal, most likely need a thermostat. I usually just replace both and be done with it.

Trouble codes p0118 temperature po118

code p0118 refers to engine coolant temperature (ETC) sensor ---circuit malfunction===causes---coolant thermostat---wiring open circuit/short to positive---wiring short to ground---ground wire defective---ECT sensor.. The temp gauge works off a temperature sender unit separate to the coolant sensor and if it is reading 100 then it indicates an overheat situation in the engine . Probably why the engine light is coming on. As the thermostat is in the list of causes I would replace it as a precaution. The coolant sensor is what tells the CPU to turn on the electric fans to cool the radiator

Sluggish start or wont start P0118

Code is for coolant temp high.

It may be as simple as jjust replacing the coolant temp sensor, although check the harness for damage first and repair.

Code p0118 failed emission, replaced but same code came back.what could be another solution?

A code P0118 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

  • A bad connection at the sensor
  • An open in the ground circuit between the ECT sensor and the PCM
  • A short in the voltage feed between the sensor and the PCM
  • A bad PCM (less likely)
  • A bad temperature sensor (shorted internally)

97grand am code P0118 replaced ect sensor clear code P0118 returns reference voltage is 2.4 volts engine off key on scan tool shows -38F with engine hot replaced ecm same result

Engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor is a thermistor screwed into a coolant passage in the cylinder head. Sensor resistance is high when coolant temperature is low and resistance drops when coolant temperature increases. The powertrain control module (PCM) provides a 5 volt reference and a ground to the sensor. The PCM monitors voltage drop to determine coolant temperature. If the ECT reads less than freezing temp. when engine has been running for more than a few minutes, the PCM determines a circuit fault and sets this code. Or if the PCM determines the sensor resistance is out of specs, this code is set.

The reference values given below are measured between ECM terminal 72 and ground...

When measuring input / output voltage be careful not to use ECM ground terminals. The ECM will enter fail safe mode once a malfunction is detected and the MI will light up.

Usually, P0118 is indicative of a bad temperature sensor, but doesn't rule out these other possibilities. If you're unsure of how to diagnose a PCM, do not attempt.
