Posotive can be found in hood driver side next to fuse box. It is a small rectangle box. You can hook negative to any solid ground on the car.

SOURCE: My trunk release button on my Mercedes Benz C230
I have the same intermittent problem on my C230 in that the trunk lid switch will not open the trunk lid from inside. If you pull it the least bit hard, the little plastic switch button breaks off and you have to replace the whole unit. Mine has been replaced twice and five months later it is now happening again. One of the tech's at Mercedes happen to say in passing that the contacts may have a problem in the hot weather and it was acting up during several heat spells. Problem is the assembly is $742.00 installed each time and Mercedes says they only warranty the replacement from the date of the original installation instead of a new warranty on the new part. I am currently fighting Mercedes of America over this as they seem to have a problem with the switch and will not admit it. Everything is so expensive on a Mercedes.

you remove the handle in the center of the rear hatch. if you look closely you will see two small snap covers that hide two screws.once you do this you will see a small bar that is actuated by the solenoid from the switch. try the switch to see what way the smalll bar inside moves the use a screwdriver to complete the disconnection. hope this helps.
SOURCE: c320 hood release handle won't pop the hood
I don't think there is a day that goes by in the shop where we don't get at least one vehicle that is doing this. Just use two people. One to pull the cable release and the other to slap the hood with their hand and tell it to cooperate. Usually, just a little "jarring" with the cable pulled will get it to pop up.
