I have a 2006 Ford Focus ZX3 manual 5sod. Anti theft system has locked my ignition down. How do I get it reset or the security system bypassed so I can drive my car?

A nice simple answer, you can't. Think of it this way, the car doesn't know you are the owner, and it is there to stop exactly what you are trying to do. You have two computer ECM and BCM, plus the antitheft module and a number of sensors all trying to stop you. All you have to do is the re-learn procedure. Plan B is an auto electrician or alarm / radio installer or auto locksmith.

30 Minute Re-Learn Procedure

1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON (vehicle will not start).
3. Observe the SECURITY telltale, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn OFF.
4. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds .

Jeff Armer is the Expert Auto electronics Expert on the site, but I found two ways to reset the Security System and Immobilizer.

Use your key fob when the alarm sounds this will take it out of theft mode if you don't have one you must get one then program it into the system download your owners manual at ford owners.Com the look in locks security the sequence is there for programming keyfob remotes

There is no way to bypass the security on your vehicle. If there was, they wouldn't call it anti-theft

Anti THEFT cuts off fuel pump and the ignition module. That is what it is for. The theft light on the dash should be on too. Something tripped the anti-theft system Try resetting the anti-theft module by locking and unlocking the drivers door with the key.

Possible anti theft but I think that you have a blown fuse go to ford owners manual.com and register for free then download the manual then go to roadside emergencies and your fuse box diagrams and values for ignition and fuel pump as well as others //// when you put the key in does the pats system light start to rapidly flash or does it go out while cranking if rapidly the anti theft is activated or somehow your key was erased check PCM fuse ignition fuel pump coils injectors

YOU CANT BYPASS THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM ITS PART OF THE PCM SYSTEM HAVE TO BUY NEW KEYS THEN GET THEM PROGRAMMED TO THE IMMOBILIZER. SO THE VECHICLE WILL CRANK.

if the theft light is flashing fast, the PATS(passive anti-theft system) can only be reset with a ford scanner... you can try leaving the key in the on position for a little over an hour, sometimes it works.
