That is an optional relay and would not affect the transmission.

SOURCE: tranny slips occasional on up shift. clunks on 4-3-2-1 downshifts

If your TT is quattro it is DSG, if it is FWD then it is Tiptronic.. A battery change usually requires a trip to the dealer to hook up the scan tool and program the TCU for the transmission...
And yes a lower voltage can affect the sensitive electronics in this car..

SOURCE: shifting

Have a local transmission shop drive it, it sounds like you may need a rebuild.

I have a 1992 700R4 that ive built twice now. Its a heavy duty tranny out of a 4x4 that was working fine, it just burned out 2nd gear. My problem with it now is that after two complete teardowns, it wont...

These are very sensitive to the adjustment of the throttle position cable that goes from the carb linkage, or throttle position linkage. Make sure that is set correctly. If it is set correctly and it still doesn't work correctly take it to a good transmission shop on the 700R4. Had to have mine done 4 times and it still isn't totally right. Mine is behind a strong Mark IV big block.

1997 chevy silverado pu 4x4 keeps blowing eng 1 fuse runs for about 15 seconds when fuse blows engine almost quits but keeps running and runs fine. The transmission jerks in overdrive going down the road...

ENG 1 - 20 amp fuse - under hood fuse Box . This fuse powers the O2 sensors heater circuits , Emission - purge an vent solenoids , mass air flow sensor , camshaft position sensor an A.I.R. intake recirculation relay - if your vehicle has it , L31 only
I would look for wires for o2 sensor melted on a exhaust pipe or manifold . Isn't your check engine light on ?

I have a 1997 Ford F150 4x4 that is stuck in 4 H. It has the 4406 transfer case and it is ESOF. I changed the shift motor and come to find out I have no power at the switch in the cab that allows you to...

Something you might find handy is a signal tracer (about $40) which can be used in the home or auto. It has 2 components and creates a signal into the wire which allows you to follow that signal down the wire to find the break. (Lowes, Home Depot) Has connectors for fuse panel holders.

You do not want to directly jump 12 volts into the shift motor. The voltage the shift motor receives determines the length the solenoid extends to give you different functions. The 4x4 selector changes the voltage for each function. ONE thing you can check is the light bulb for the 4x4 selector knob. There have been reports on this site that a burned out light bulb can change the voltage for the 4x4 selector. Myself, it seems strange because the lightbulb is off until the headlights, etc. are turned on, so it would make no sense to effect the 4x4 selector during daylight.

Since you have a duplicate shift solenoid you may be able to plug in the wiring harness and ground the extra shift solenoid to aid in diagnosing the problem.

You could loosen up the fuse box holding these particular wires and check them on their backsides. Also check to see if there is a shift selector relay.

96 s10 blazer 4x4 wont work lights flash on dash but shift transfree case put new motor on transfree case

Listen for the TCCM (transfer case control module) to "click" when 4X4 is activated behind passenger kicker panel just in front of passenger door near floorboard. If it clicks then is activating and with the new motor on transfer case that would make me think it has something to do with the 4X4 vacuum lines. If you look under the battery tray you will find the vacuum canister that activates the front hub when 4X4 is activated. take out ur battery and position it so you can still have it hooked up or with jumper cables and still see the canister and turn your truck on and engage 4X4 to see if vacuum canister activates to lock in front hub, if not just follow and check vacuum lines. Also check, ALL, fuses as there are many fuses that in my opinion are miss marked as with the logic side of TCCM is ran through the fuse marked for the Dome Light. Have also heard of parking lamps having something to do with it too... just a few suggestions from things I had to go through with mine
