Make sure you have the right size belt. If it's old then replace it. Then make sure you run it correctly or it can slip off. If it still slips off then check all your pulleys for chips or wobble before you replace any pulleys. I hope this will be some simple help for you.

3.5l. What causes a noise under hood that sounds like bad rotors?

Hello. It seems that belt tensioner is either 'weak' or the serpentine belt is not turning 'true'. Also, if the harmonic balancer is NOT 'fully' seated on the crankshaft, the belt will turn not 'true'. Usually if the belt tensioner if not strong, it will make a 'squeaking' sound. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

Why is the harmonic balance eating into the timing cover?

On most vehicles today, the crankshaft pulley acts as the harmonic balancer. It also has the grooved outer ring that the serpentine belt rides on. Between the central hub of the balancer and the outer ring is a strip of rubber that the outer ring is pressed onto. This rubber, over time, ages and shrinks. This allow the outer ring to walk inward (or outward) of the centerline of the pulley. This causes the serpentine belt to wear out prematurely and can cause the problem you describe. You need a new harmonic balancer. It comes complete with the rubber and outer ring already attached. Check your belt at the same time to see if it needs replaced as well.

The out of the pulley with the harmonic balancer keeps coming out causing the belt to come off I've tapped it back on a couple of times it keeps coming back out only now my car has a loud knock what could...

typically harmonic balancers are balanced and indexed to the crankshart they are bolted to. the harmonic balancer should have been replaced when it first came apart. it sounds like the the reinstallation of the defective balancer caused the rotating assembly of the engine to be out of balance. given time this will always damage the main bearings of the engine and I think this is the loud knock you are now hearing. do not continue to use the car and take it to a competent mechanic to evaluate and give you an estimate for the repairs.

My ac belt keeps coming off

I don't know the model year of your vehicle? Sometimes, I'll use the edge of a framing square on the front face of pulley, to see if pulley and belt line up with each other. Maybe the pulley is trying to seize up, somewhere? Correct belt? If serpentine belt, check the tensioner. That's all I can think of at the moment?

The Serpentine belt keeps walking off the Crank shaft pulley by one rib as if the pulley moved away from the engine.. Is this where the harmonic balancer is. If so, is it difficult to change?

Before you change anything,,check and see if everything is in line..Also feel all the pulleys and make sure everything turns ok...If the powersteering pump has been replaced,,sometimes the pulley was not pressed on far enough..If it seem to be the harmonic balancer make sure its not damage and the bolt in the middle is tight...If you remove it..You remove middle bolt,,then you have to use a puller to remove the harmonic balancer itself..unusuall for the harmonic balancer to be bad unless it was hit by something

Serpentine belt keeps coming off or breaks it on my jeep

If you didn't have the gauge problem before you replacved the pump it's likely that you either damaged the float mechanism or have a bad harness connection there. (could also be a gauge problem if it began before pump change)
Serp belt will either break or walk off a pulley if either a pulley bearing is bad or something is out of alignment ( look from the side and make sure all pulleys are not too far to the front or rear) If a pulley or bearing is bad (applies to alt, a/c and p/s as well) it can cause the belt to "shock" when it binds and can throw it off. You need to remove the belt and turn each one and feel if they are either loose or rough turning (you can't exert as much pressure as the belt does so what feels slight is far greater under belt pressure)
