It sounds like you could have something seizing up. I would remove one belt at a time till the squealing stops. Then examine pulleys to see if they spin free. If a pulley seizes, it can actually make the truck hard to start, or not even start at all. It will act like you engine is locked up.

Thanks Jay!

my first thought would be the squealing serpentine belt or could be brake pads. Combining squeal and stall from stopped position maybe you have a bearing going out on something the serpentine belt runs on. example if belt tensioner or A/C clutch bearing going bad could cause drag on serpentine belt. If a bearing is going bad you may be able to hear it under the hood.

My Echo makes a squealing noise randomly when driving & airconditioner is turned off?

Your serpentine belts tension is loose or the belt is going hard. Check the tension on the tensioner pulley and condition of belt.
The belt is slipping on your accessory pulleys when a load is placed on them such as power steering, alternator and clutch fan.

High pitched squeal when jeep idles or during deceleration. soonafter, clutch pedal jumped violently under my foot followed by engine stalling out. could not depress clutch pedal after that.

It sounds like your clutch bearing has gone they are usually on a pendulum system it screeches before it starts to go. Best get it checked.

Squealing noise when releasing clutch

You might have to change your release bearing. When you change this, you have to change the pressure plate, Clutch disk, the pilot bearing as well to assure you of a longer time without problems.

The fan clutch or belt to it, is making a screeching noise and then stops after a few minutes. We've tried everything to get it to stop. What lshould we do?

The bearings in the fan clutch, or idler pulley may be going out, which would create extra resistance. This would cause the belt to squeal until everything is moving like it should. Try to lube the bearings, and put some belt stop squeal spray on the belt ridges. If this doesn't help, take the belt off and find which pulley is causing the extra resistance.

Squealing noise when a/c is turned on, then noise stops. Is this an a/c fan belt or something else? Would like to know what to expect when I go to auto mechanic.

Sounds like you might have a loose are worn fan belt. Specially if this is a V belt. With the hood up have someone turn the air conditioner on and watched the compressor clutch if it stops turning you might have a bad compressor. If it keeps turning in the squealing just goes away, you might just have a loose belt. Good luck.

L reg, petrol, 3 door renault clio. n it squeals like a pig.

That is your trust bearing in your clutch assembly, its a cheap part but involves basically a clutch change to sort out, you can either live with it till the clutch fails or depending on how long its been since it was last changed, bite the bullet and get a whole new clutch fitted.

Squealing noise under the hood

No, The fan clutch will not make a Noise it will just not catch the Fan to Cool. It is the Belt. Make sure that it is Tight. You may have a Bad Belt Tensioner if it is not.
