My ford ranger pickup overheated within minutes of driving after sitting all night. I checked all fluid and they were good. Let it sit several hours and now it cranks but will not start.

If the starter isn't reacting at all when warmed up, that's usually your problem right there. After it cools down the armature in the starter allows the power to flow. BUT CHECK THE BATTERY & ALTERNATOR TOO! CK FOR ELEC SHORTS AT BATT.

possibility fuel pump or relay overheating when stalls ---if you try to start with starter fluid and starts check the fuel pump relay for power and feel if hot if good than turn to on position not start and listen for fuel pump should hear a slight hum but check at fuel rail for pressure

Has anyone checked base fuel pressure before and after the engine is first started ?

Start by cleaning the battery terminals. That's the symptom of an intermittent connection

the shift sinkcranizers are dry .may have to pull the shifter and use some white lithum grease on it work the shifter from gear to gear working in the grease drive the truck for about 25-30 miles and change trans fluid

this is probably the starter solenoid. When this happens again try hitting the solenoid with something and see if it starts right up. I am assuming your battery is fine and the connections have been checked as good. you can replace the solenoid alone if that is the problem and it is an easy fix.

you need to try a external gauge to check the pressure to see if your dash gauge is right

if the engine took 10 minutes to get oil pressure it would be dead by now i would replace the oil pressure sender unit first

I just replaced my fuel pump and it solved a similar problem.

If the truck has been sitting, I would be looking into the bell housing for mouse nest. Chipmunks and mice love to make nests in there. Nut shells and other debris will interfer when clutch pedal is depressed. All that **** falls in between the pressure plate and slave cylinder. It's hard to clean out without removing transmission. what you realy need to do is check your fuel pressure. it sound like a fuel pressure regulator . but ive also seen a dirty fuel system and defective fuel pumps do the same thing.
