What engines is there, must we guess?
is it gas or diesel
ever heard of camera and a photo of engine.
and .....
located in what country?, must we guess that too..
some are some are not.
in the uSA the 99 is NOT.

Most posters here!
think that all cars are the same.
all usa cars are same.
all jeeps(put yours here) are the same.
or all cars in usa are the same as say like, EU. (europe)
sorry all of that is false! Not one is the same...they are all differnt by Law ! In your country.
no year, country, engine or transmission stated, then ask a questions on just that.
no symptoms clearly stated, or only 1 and forget to tell all symptoms or worse all things that work and don't work.
Like this, the car drives perfect, but one lamp is out. only.
then fail to post a photo of something, that is not right. amazing that with billions of camera's in hand world wide, amazing to a fault.
that's my preamble.
now my wild and useless guess....

How do I know if my timing belt has broke when I try start car it won't turn completely over but it wants to turn

Won't start & may not turn over due
to bent valves or jambed belt

Check the belt first & if it timed correctly
try turning the motor by hand off the crank pulley bolt

Car not firing

Most likely the valves were bent.
When you attempt to start the motor does it turns over a bit fast and will not sound quit right - Not even attempt to spark up or fire up.
Check engine cylinder compression. The valves were bent when the belt broke.
you will
1. check compression (and when it fails)
2. decide to have the head checked and if possible rebuilt (use new head bolts)
or
3. Look for and buy a low milage used motor
or
4. Look for a rebuilt head

Timing belt broke at about 55 miles per hour. do you think the valves are bent and what parts do I need to buy other than belt? Oh 2001 hyundai sonada with 2.6L motor. THANKS Jimmy

The 2.4l and 2.5l engines are interference engines, meaning it is highly likely that you bent your valves when your timing belt broke. Besides the timing belt, you may need a new belt tensioner and pulleys. I would replace the water pump too.

Would there be a noise / sound if the valves bend during this time??? I Lost all Power to my Car and just pulled it off the road, and my mechanic told me my valves were bent. he took everything off and...

Sounds like the Timing belt broke while the motor was running, the engine would have died when that happened unless you busted a cam shaft. if the Timing belt was broken and it happened while the motor was running there is a 90% probability that you bent every valve in the head assembly from contact with the pistons.

CAR STALLED. DISCOVERED TIMING BELT HAD BROKEN. REPLACED BELT. STILL WILL NOT START BUT WILL TURN OVER

It sounds like the timing is still off, which will not allow it to start, or you have a faulty cam, or crank sensor.

The timing belt in my 2001 pt cruiser is broken. Did this cause any damage to the engine? or do we just need to replace the timing belt

Its got damage, bent valves. replace every thing on timing belt, tensioner, pulleys, water pump. The head needs to go to a machine shop and bent valves replaced.

Timing belt Broke are valves worped?

Hello momma_green: My name is Roger and I will help you. The 2005 Chevy Aveo 1.6 engine is a interference motor. That means if the timing belt breaks. The valves will be bent. I have one in my shop now that the belt broke on it. Bent all 16 valves and damaged all 4 pistons. This is not a forgiving motor. I wish I could tell you good news but I cant. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer you received. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

Info about timing belt

Chances are slim. Just align your marks, install a new belt and without any sparkplugs, turn the engine by hand. If anything's hitting, you'll feel it.
