If the DVD player is mounted in the dash, this is due to an interlock to avoid distracted drivers. If you tried to disable it, the unit will not work at all.
If this is a back-seat only unit, please add a comment with more information on the DVD player.
Same thing happened to me. My DVD player stopped working and the 15A fuse for Power 1 kept blowing. Turns out that there was a little metal ring that had fallen into my powerpoint connection on the dash. It was shorting out my DVD player. Removed the ring, installed a new fuse and DVD player is back up and running.
You will need to remove the player and send it out for repair, the solid state circuit that turns on the player has a defective diaode most likely in one orf the chips.
The manual shows several fuses for the radio/tape/cd players. It doesn't show anything for a dvd player but i would think it would use the same power feed as the other. In thepassenger compartment take a look at fuse number 5 and 11 and 20. if they are all ok then in the power distribution box under the hood look at fuse number 56, 59 and 62. Fuse number 62 is the listed as the dvd fuse. However the systems use multiple fuses so that parts of have power all the time, Such as the clock and alarm systems must have power all the time in order to work. Now not all of the fuses I have listed may be being used but these are all the ones listed for all the different sound systems used. If all the fuses are good you may have to remove the player and look for a manual release to open it.
You need to change the mode on the stereo to dvd. The dvd sound comes through the vehile stereo. I just bought a used one a week ago and had the same problem, eventually figured it out.
well on mine, I have to turn off the sat. radio before the kids can watch dvd and I can only listen to radio or cd while they watching dvd. I don't even know if you are able to listen to dvd through them speakers, because it came with headsets. I know I am not big help, but I think you have to change something on the front radio. If nobody else can answer your question, than I will look tomorrow to see how I turn on my dvd player and tell you what I have to push.
