I have a 92 mx-3 & the hold light keeps flashing & the speedometer has stopped working. what would be the cause of these issues?

Yesterday i was installing a power outlet in the car & routed the wires thru the firewall where the speedo cable passes thru. the only thing i could think of is that i somehow pulled the speedo cable loose from the back of the instrument cluster.

You may have drilled thru firewall and cut a wire. Look very closely. Thank you and please leave feedback

SOURCE: code c1277 (steering angle sensor)

this vehicle uses a steering control module and the antilock control module. Both modules get a signal from the steering angle sensor. We found that the steering module didnot show a steering sensor code but the ABS module did show the code.
after checking that the wiring was intact and with good continuity, it was determined that the fault lies in the ABS module.
A new ABS module and configuration confirmed the diagnosis. It's fixed!

There's most likely an issue with your transmission. Bring it to a shop to have it scanned for any codes

SOURCE: I have a 94 Mazda MX-6 2.5 DOHC I was driving on

The timing belt has broken. Fortunately though, according to my catalog, this is not an interference engine and the engine should not be damaged internally.

Odometer, tachometer, speedometer, and gas gauge suddenly stopped working.

Sounds like the body control module has gone bad. It has a relay that caries considerable current to all of these accesories and wears out.
It can also be a solder joint on the circuit board where this relay mounts.
Hope this helps, Robert

Speedometer doesn't work and the holdon light flash

1993 mx-6 v6 "hold" light flashes, speedo doesnt work but car shifts fine. mechanic at mazda says that there is no way to tell if its the guage cluster or ecu- recomends junkyard replacements of both or do cluster first then try ecu. Checked speed sensor and wiring and says they are fine. we paid alot for this diagnosis figured i would pass along.
