94 intrepid keeps blowing rad fan fuse

Maybe a failed fan motor

Does it run powered direct to battery voltage?

You cannot use the vehicle at all as is

it sounds as if there might be a burned fuse. instead of replacing the rad fan relay i suppose they should have looked further. I'd be willing to bet they would find a faulty fan which in turn is taking out ur fuse or relay. With a faulty fan, it will require way more current to get it going then normal, overloading the circuit, blowing the fuse, or even, over loading the relay. I would be willing to bet now, you have a burned fuse due to a faulty rad fan.. good luck

its the radiator fan running? check the fuses.
if the radiator fan does not run when the car achieves certain temperature, then your temperature sensor maybe defective.
check if you have enough coolant.

Things that keep the fans on

First, check fuses. On top of the battery there is a fuse block. The 1st green fuse on the left is for fan operation. Take it out, check it for heat damage. A lot of times the fuse won't blow, but there will be heat damage to the fuse and holder. If there's damage, you have had an high current draw and the relay might be stuck or the fan(s) are binding.
While we are there, with the fuse out spin the fans by hand and see if they do anything but spin free. If binding, replace the fan. A high draw from a binding fan will burn out new components in the same way.
With the fuse back in, check the fuse panel on the drivers' side of the dash. One at a time pull fuse #5, #16 and #25 and check them. If one of them blows, the fans can run unexpectedly.

A/C- If your a/c button is on, this would keep the fans on always. Turn off the climate control system, make sure the A/C switch is off too.
Still running? Go under the hood and unplug the A/C pressure switch. It's on an A/C line just before it enters the cabin. If you unplug it and the fans stop this is your issue.
Still running?

Next would to unplug the rad. thermo. switch. It's on the drivers side of the radiator about a foot down from the upper rad hose. It screws into the radiator and has a triangular connecter. Unplug it. If the fans go off, this is your issue.

After you are SURE everything else checks out, last cause would be to replace the fan control module. It's the block right next to the thermo switch you just fooled with, the connecter is facing up.






a bad coolant temp sensor might do this too

thats normal,,, the motor is likley to have a shorted coial in it, if sit will pull far more amp's that is should and it blows the fuses, dont try fitting a biger fuse in,,,,,,you will just start a fire in the car!

Very possible - also check that the fans actually turn by hand (ignition off of course) as sometimes the fan motors seize up and blow a fuse. If you have access to a scan tool and the fans are not seized, you can actuate the relays manuallly to see what works and what doesn't.

Sounds like you need to replace the fan motor

The temp sensor for the fan is along the radiator hose. You should see wires coming out from it. If you pull out the sensor from its plug, the radiator fan should turn on and if it does not then the fan could be faulty. Or the fan may be weak in blowing air in

The fan may run with jumper wires but if it''s blowing the 30 Amp Maxifuse it's needs a new or used fan motor.It's pulling too many amps.I have almost never seen a fan relay concern.Only other thing you may check is the wiring down near the fan shoud I have seen the 2 wires get loose from the conduit & melt onto exhaust manifold.Hope tHis Helps

I have a 96 Intrepid, and none of the signal lights work. I tried replacing the fuse, but this did not remedy the problem. Could this be a loose connection?
