You didn't say what the make and model are, but if code 43 is a knock sensor issue I guess its a GM product.
Code 21 means the TPS voltage was too high, and code 43 means the knock sensor voltage was too high or too low.
Neither code would kill the engine. Just turn the warning light on.
If the throttle position sensor failed, you would get the effect of stalling on acceleration.
You may need to narrow down the possible causes to spark or fuel, and in the end it could be the engine computer. It could also be a relay or other electrical component.

I ended up solving problems with the codes. The new TPS was faulty, and the KN senser was bad. The problem ended up being a plugged cat. I pulled the exhaust off the motor. Thanks again guys for all your help

SOURCE: check engine light code 15 on 91 honda accord dies while driving

Have come across this before and have only had to replace any parts a couple of times. What I have found to be the problem in about half the cases was that there was a poor connection in the connector at the right shock tower. Also in about 30 percent of the case I have found an open wire that was just old and as it got hotter would lose it's continuity. Below is a picture of one of the connectors at the distributor. When you are having problems check to see if you have battery voltage at the yellow wire by using your negative battery terminal as your ground when checking for voltage and the key needs to be in the "on" position when checking. If voltage is not correct find the open wire. Last but not least, in the other connector at the distributer (see the next picture) where you see the leter "A" or terminal "A" with the key on and using the battery as a ground you should have about 10 volts there. If not correct, replace the ignitor. It may be heating up but as I said this is not common but have seen it before. Remember to check when the problem is happening when checking. Hope this helps.....

SOURCE: i have a 91 honda accord lx starts fine runs good

It may be the O2 sensor. I know it's not the fuel filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires, Vehicle Speed Sensor, Dis. cap, or TCM.

maybe a dicky cam sensor even if new! make sure the cam sensor is aligned correctly as if its out even a small amount the car will not run. check it is in place correctly.

Is the car trying to start? or are you getting nothing when turning the key?

I can be driving along and the car just dies, I pull over and wait for about 5 minutes and it will start back up and run like nothing has happened. "Check Engine" light never comes on. I borrowed a code...

02 is not the problem you stated there where cel on when the car died. They could have been pending codes not related to the stall. Common on this car is crank, cam sen. If the crank fails it will stall and not show a crank sen fault code.

If you have changed all that, look for vacuum leaks, or there could be a sensor thats bad, remember the obd1 wont capture codes and save them, I would start with hoses then to MAP sensor

What's your problem? My 91 Dodge Dakota starts and runs for about 5 minutes and then dies

You need to run an electronic engine control fault code test on this. To do that read the info here.

Having multiple intermittent problems

I guess the overall answer is yes it could be the ECM.
Code 16 is high or low system battery voltage.
Code 21 and 22 are both for the throttle position sensor.
And code 43 is for the electronic spark control which controls engine spark timing.
The ECM grounds various relays to make things happen such as turning on the cooling fan. So a faulty ECM could cause all of the symptoms. But so could a wiring problem in one of the harnesses.
Especially a ground problem somewhere.
If the alternator suddenly starts overcharging the system the ECM can shut down the car to protect the circuits. Unusual, but possible.
This info may not help much, but somebody is going to have to test the circuits when the engine dies or when the symptoms happen.

Here is where the P code would be very helpful. Any one of these conditions will cause a DTC 43 and turn on the MIL. The P code would specifically point to which one is causing the problem. Usually this code is caused by a bad set of ignition wires. In this case in cylinders 1, 3 or 5. If, after replacing the wires, the codes are still present, then you probably have a problem with the coil pack. Hope this helps
