First, Ronald is an IDIOT! DO NOT power wash the engine EVER! If the engine is really hot and you spray ice cold water on it can crack the head instantly! Also, everyone knows' water and electricity don't mix! the ignition control module is $300. A little water on that and its gone! If your car is overheating, you may need a water pump! The one you got, may have been bad! The rule is, as soon as a car overheats, the thermostat MUST be changed! A simple test would be to remove the thermostat and close it back up! A few dollars for the gasket is all you will spend! Try and run the car without it and see if it still gets hot! If it still gets hot, check the water in the radiator or resivor to see if the water is also hot. If its hot then the water pump is working and you need to check the fans! You can run a power wire to the fan to make sure they are working. There are relays for those also! If they are not turning on, that is most likely your problem! I rebuild VW's for a living!
they sell many flush products the best ive found is wynns products FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS on the bottle , make sure fan r fans r working properly maybe even check flow from water pum sometmes pump fins courod and dont pump like they should . if flush doesnt work pull radiator take to shop have them clean and rod the core .
If your engine is running fine with no miss in it possibilities could be radiator fan or water pump if the radiator fan is working fine it could be the water pump. I have seen a water pump after removing it where the fins on the pump were completely worn out causing the overheating.Let me know how this turns out for you thanks.
COOLING FAN NOT WORKING.OR A LEAKING HEAD GASKET.MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 50/50 ANTIFREEZE AND WATER.BAD RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.SLIPPING WATER PUMP DRIVE BELT.LOW COOLANT.
You have air in the system, you will need to work that out, some engine have cooling systen bleeders, if not loosen a heater hose to bleed air from the system.
First thing first. I assume you have electric fan or fans, do they come on when it's starting to get hot?If they come on then you need to change your thermostat. If it's not opening after engine gets to temp 180 to 190 Im guessing then your coolant will not flow through engine. If after you change your thermostat make sure when you change it its spring side down toward engine. If it still runs hot after that probably need to check to make sure your water pump is working. Most of the time if a water pump is bad its will leak out a small weep hole after you turn the car off. I have seen at times when the impeller spin on the shaft and not pump water. You should be able to check that by taking the lower radiator hose off the water pump and see if its pumping water, some may come out but it should really blow out really good if its pumping. One of these solutions should fix your problem.
