The OD light is blinking because the transmission control module has detected a fault in the transmission operation, most common is slipping as measured by the input and output turbine shaft speed sensors. You may feel no slipping but the sensors are detecting it or one of the sensors is giving a fault signal.

O/D LIGHT

The overdrive light blinking is telling you there is a transmission code in the computer That unit is a strong transmission, but it does have electronics. You need to get it scanned for the code before you go any farther.

Transmission not shifting

Well usually its the overdrive in the trans. Try disengaging it and driving. If it does let you go into the other gears then look into a OD silenoid.

92 crown vic transmission

i dont recall any sensors forthe od...usually if the over drive goes out people drive in the d mode which is harder on the transmission but no there are no sensors that im aware of that would make the OD not work correctly
