sounds like an vacume leek check all the vacume lines with soapy water in sqert bottle spre lines if eng changes sound idle up or down theres your problem...
Yes this ih how it operates. The check engine light is designed to protect the catalytic convertor. When ever the CK ENG LT comes on it disables the VSC.
if you had it diagnosed and fixed all possible problems for it then the the check engine light has to be reset. You can try it manually by turning the key three or four times to the point just b 4 it starts. Then start it up. If that does not work take it to a shop and see if they can check the computer for any other possible problems (i know you can sign up for a pep boys rewards card free and they will check it for you. If all is well ask if they can reset it for you. Good luck.
yes, that is called a "check eng" light, this may have came on for many different reasons, low eng oil level, low eng. oil pressure, eng. may be misfireing, eng. may be overheating etc. many things can cause this. get hold of a diagnostic scanner and scan for codes. or take it to any shop. theyll scan for you
the 1st step to resolve a check eng light is to have the computer control system tested for the trouble/malfunction code that is stored when ever the ck eng lt is turned by the computer on, there are over 200 such trouble codes so guessing is not really an option, have the memory read for the code and post the code back here on fixya.

When your engine not starting or quits while you driving check to see any sparks, or remove the distributor and let the auto part test it. if it no sparks or the auto part say is bad , replace it.
