K5 engine crankshaft specifications

I need to check/grind a damaged crankshaft but can not find details of the standard crank sizes. pls help someone - Heinz K.

I need to find the main and rod factory specs for a GM Crankshaft casting number 6223. Where would I look?

you would have to get the foundry bill of material for that crankshaft
finding the casting foundry will be a job in itself
however crank shafts are cast to a engineering standard (throw distance) and are then ground to a standard size on the big ends and main journals
what ever con rods that are used depends on the block that the crank shaft is installed in as different piston diameters require different strength conrods
the casting number is just a batch number so it may prove a dead end if you are relying on it to get information
where I would start looking is at a engineering shop that regrinds crank shafts as they may have original specs for gm cranks and that number just may indicate what block it was made for and then you may get a heading as to where to look

I grounded my test light and touched the green/yellow wire from plug connected to distributer. I cranked the motor and I got nothing . Does that mean the computer is bad? Pls help and thank u much

Could you supply vehicle detail information ? Year, make, model and engine size ? Check fuses and wiring to start out. You could have a bad camshaft or crankshaft sensor. Difficult to determine with very little information. Would also help if you tell us how did the problem begin and what have you done to it so far.

Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation
What does this mean? OBD Code P0016refers to
The crankshaft position sensor (CKP) and Camshaft position sensor (CMP) work in harmony to control the spark/fuel delivery and timing. They both consist of a reluctor, or tone, ring which passes over a magnetic sensor, which generates a voltage, indicating position. The crankshaft sensor is part of the primary ignition system and functions as the "trigger". It detects the position of the crankshaft relays that information on to the PCM or the ignition module (depending on the vehicle) to control spark timing. The Camshaft position sensor detects the position of the camshafts and relays the information to the PCM. The PCM uses the CMP signal to identify the beginning of the injector sequence. What ties these two shafts and their sensors together is the timing belt or chain. The cam and crank should be precisely timed together. If the PCM detects that the Crank and Cam signals are out of time by a specific number of degrees, this P0016 code will set.

What are the specs for a 1998 Chevy Cavalier Connecting Rod?

Connecting Rod's are VERY SPECIFIC for each engine. In Addition to getting the Right STROKE, Piston Pin Size, and Crankshaft Size, you need to make sure to get the Correct Bearings for the Crank. If you are not going to remove the Crank from the Engine, your BEST Option is going to be Purchasing a NEW Push Rod.

What is the difference between standard size main bearing and oversize main bearing. Which is best for the 5.4L V8 engine

thats a good un? ok standard bearings are a standard size,,,over size bearings are smaller in the center to make up for the metal that has been removed from when the bearing was re-fased
ie: ground down to smooth it off so its flat again,,,,,now you can fit oversized bearings on a standerd bearing becouse they would be far to tight and would lock the bearing up,,,,so you need to re-grind the bearing serfice or fit standerd bearings back in,,,only if the shaft is a good one?

Re-grinded crank fitted and developed initial problem

While tough to say from this vantage point it would appear the wrong size bearings may have been used. Did your mechanic use plasti-gae to confirm what size bearing were needed? A newly reground crank with proper bearings and lube should be able to have been rotated.
