1.5 diesel megane injection fault

Hi just fitted new injectors because had a msg on screen showing 'injection fault' and the renault dealers` diagnostic test shown the injectors were leaking. got that sorted and the msg still comes up on screen when driving. dealer said it is the fuel injection pump. because it is an expensive thing to change, didnt fix that problem. yesterday when drove on a long journey, the engine stopped at about 70 mph and wouldnt start. guy from rac managed to clean the crankshaft sensor and terminals and the car started. although started and i managed to drive another 200 miles i couldnt go more than 50 mph without it showing the fault again. anyone knows if this can be something else than the fuel injection pump? (preferably something cheaper ;P)

The cheapest way to go is to change the fuel filters first and the air filter. Then I would change the crankshaft sensor.

You may have to bit the bullet , and have the fuel pump changed before the fuel injection pump. The fuel pump in the tank can be loosing pressure to the fuel injectoin pump.
I think the lesser cost is the fuel tank pump vs. the fuel injection pump.

The system runs of fuel and air. No spark like on a gas engine.

So the problem can only be lack of fuel or lack of air getting into the vehicle air induction. A restriction in fuel or air will make the engine run poorly.

05 Megane Sport Tourer 103,000 miles
I had the injection fault light coming on when putting foot down to overtake. Chnaged Air filter, Fuel filter, and no difference.
Oil, Filter, cambelt all changed at correct intervals.
I put some injector cleaner in with the petrol and the fault got worse coming on when starting and resulted in six presses of the button to get started.
Ran the car through Xmas and took to renault who put it on the diagnostics and found the Leak Down test failed on two injectors.
N0. 2 and No. 3 cylinders.
One rplacement injector is £186 and fitting both is 1.5 hours labour.
The diagnostics was £47 which I think was fair as pecialised equipent is reqired and it took 1.5 hours.
After 103,000 miles I guess this little 1.5 diesel has don well and the new injectors should give it a new lease of life.
Best point 62mpg. Worst point 3 window regulators on front windows (Under Warranty) one has gone again but the window is up so I can not bring myself to pay £200.

This is usually a hand pump if you remove the plastic covers on the drivers side there is usually a black pump that you'll need to squeeze until the diesel reaches the engine.

Yep, those are all words, but thrown randomly at the screen in no particular order with funky punctuation. :>D Normally I edit, but this masterpiece should stay.

Hi, I have a problem with my renault megane 1.5dci 2005, it shows check injection light and every time I cold start it fires up after second or third try. I took it to bosch service to get the light reset...

hard starting in cold weather for a diesel is an indication of failed glo-plugs. IF it start ok now then the light was telling you of the glo-plug problem. I would only change injectors as a very last resort as they are very expensive and may not be the fault any way as the easy start indicates no fault there.

Renault megan scenic 1.6 auto 1998 .start up drive ,does not change gear ,stop when warm restart drives ok ?

This sounds like you have a pressure fault, these gearboxes suffer from pressure solonoid failure, take the car to your dealer and have it scanned, this will show the fault, it is not an expensive job, but if left it can turn into one.

Injection fault

Fuel injector cleaner may help your car after it gets started and you have fuel pressure established, but it won't help a car that won't start.the prob might be the starter or the battery
