How to replace a heater hose on a 1996 dodge stratus

It appears that the hose to the carbon canister is either disconnected or has a hole in it. It won't hurt your car to drive it this way. If you are really concerned about it, replace the carbon canister and the connecting hose and forget about it for another 15 years or so.

probably by the fresh air hose the one that hooks to the throttle body.

Take off the clamps & cut off the hoses

if you can find the heater hoses coming out of the firewall behind engine, it should be an in line valve with a cable attached to it.

follow the vaccume hoses to the passengers side shock tower area,the map sensor will be the one with bot wires and hoses going into it.

It sounds like a bad water pump. Start by checking hose first. then check thermostat gasket , then check water pump. Replace radiator cap. It is not releasing pressure causing the pressure to find the weakest point somewhere else.

is the thermostat stuck open?  You will see two hoses going to the firewall.  These are the heater hoses.

Seems like the heater core is possibly plugged. I would try flushing the heater core before changing it. Look in the engine compartment on the cars right side. Find where two cooling line go into the firewall. Roughly 1" - 1 1/2" in size. Disconnect these lines. You will loose fluid, so put a container under the car. Use a garden hose and flush the core in one side and make sure the water flows out the other. Then repeat this process to flush the opposite way. If the water does not flow easily, then there is something stuck inside the core, then it will have to be replaced.
