Went to Buick dealer to get new tires, also asked about why horn and cigarette lighter do not work - dealer said they could't fix horn because it had a short. When dealer returned the car to me that day, with new tires, the electronic door locks had all been deactivated. Doors no longer lock or unlock using FOB or the electronic switch inside the doors. All doors lock OK using mechanical switch. Electronic trunk release also no longer working. Did they short something out, or does the security system need to be reset?
Jay, If problems did indeed happen after that shop checked things, return and ask them to fix back to the way it was prior to them tinkering around.
Testimonial: "Of course I went back to Centennial Buick GMC in Las Vegas; they to assigned their "D" team who took another day to break some more stuff on the car, then said they would charge me $340 to fix what they broke (the electic body power control box). I said NO THANKS, and got out of there quickly. My electronic door locks, security, and trunk still don't work, and one of the driver's side controls is broken where they tore apart that door; I feel lucky the car still ran when I got it back. Not going back there ever! Meanwhile, is there such a thing as a power control box of the 1998 Buick, and how do I buy one to replace it?"
Jay, I think you mean a Body control module/computer, located up under dash, but I am not positive.
, you probably could pick up a good used one at auto wreckers or copy and paste the link below in google search,http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/buick...
