SOURCE: Engine Light came on, Lost power

Only way to tell what is wrong is to have the computer scanned to read what code is stored in the Engine Control Module (ECM).
Any of the large parts stores, eg. Advance Auto, Autozone, Pep Boys, etc. should be able to scan it for free.

Go to the VW Vortex site, or VWFixx, or RussTech and stroll around the forums. Find someone near you with a Vag-Com and get the codes. Or go to AutoZone and get the codes.

I've got a 2001 1.8T New Beetle and I am alwasy getting codes. Have repaired and replaced, repaired and replaced, a number of things. O2 sensors, hoses, valves, sensors, etc, etc., and couldn't do any of it without the VagCom.

Bottom line to help is codes, we need codes.

P0322....Ignition/Distributor Engine Speed Input Circuit No Signal

Well sorry to disappoint you but as this is a 2006 vehicle its a dealer only diagnostic software to locate fault then lift the limp mode which is what you have at the moment ,i suspect a a possible fault inside the ECU but it could be a crank or cam sensor if fitted with the later ,Now an american vehicle can have the OBDII read but it may not be possible to reset anything as the europeon version cannot even have the OBDII read let alone reset anything .Its to put general garages out of business so only the dealers can do anything on a modern vehicle .

2006 Chrysler town and country 3.3 engine. won't exceed 4000RPM. Engine misses and is sluggish. What could it be

The ignition control module is probably in the limp in mode. This happens when there is a component failure in the module, but it will allow you to get home instead of being stuck on the road.

I have a 2006 Corolla with 98500 km on the clock. The car seems to be sluggish on pull away up to about 50 km/h. Higher speeds the acceleration is fine. What could this be?

This could either be a transmission issue or an engine issue. Check if the sluggishness coincides with the RPM moving at the same slow rate. If it is it could be the engine. You may have to check the vacuum hoses for leaks or may have to spray some carb cleaner into the intake manifold. Check the fuel filter if it needs replacing and check for leaks at the side of the engine. It could be a leaking or a bad VVT solenoid. If nothing wrong is observed on the engine then it may be just fluid issues with the transmission. Check the level and if it needs replacing have the filter replaced as well.

I just bought a 2001 pontiac grand am se with 99890 miles. I would like to know what rpm is the proper shift point from first to second gear? Mine shifts at like 3000 to 3500 rpm and shifts firmly is that...

Hello, well at what rpm it shifts at of course depends on how hard your pressing the accelerator at that moment,if you floor the accelerator it will shift at higher rpm (red line) but if you take off very slowly it should shift at a much lower rpm....but to answer your question 3000-3500 is a good shifting rpm( if the gauge red lines at 6000-6500 rpm) and firm shifting is a good thing, slow, sluggish and hesitant shifting is a sign of bad things to come from a tranny!! ps keep the engine oil,and transmission oil changed for long life out of your car engine and tranny. good luck and enjoy your new car......yz-maniac.
