No-- that is if it is just an overflow tank
if it incorporates a radiator cap it is a possibility because it the tank is split or cannot hold pressure then the operation temp will be higher
Most over heats can be attributed to low coolant levels, fans not operational, blocked radiator cores, thermostats, head gaskets and cracked heads
process of elimination is to:-
check the coolant level at the radiator cap
have a compression test done
check fan/s operation (if viscous fan hub ( fan clutch) check that it is driving when the engine is hot)--indications of fan problems is over heating at lights , slow traffic etc where the road speed is not sufficient to pass air throught the radiator fins
check flow through the thermostat
check flow through radiator

Double check that your rad cooling fan is operating as it should, but after that, I'd be looking at a good rad flush, or rad replace. Believe it or not, your heater core is like a small rad, and when you turn the heater on, it actually cools the circulating coolant, slighly,and therefore shows a difference on your gauge. Like I said, make sure the rad fan is coming on when engine temperature is at normal or slightly higher, and if it is, then I'd be taking a close look at my radiator, especially if it wasn't replaced when headgasket was done.

Martin, You should replace your fan motor. One fan is for ac and one is for normal driving without ac. Your car is getting to hot. Hope this helps, these fans are available aftermarket as a whole assembly. Check out ebay I have seen them on there I have a wholesale company I buy them through.

make sure ur fan clutch is puling some air and replace rad cap with new onr u may have to replace radiator long trips not getting enough water cooled

You might need to have your cooling system bled, to get all the air out of it. That gurgling is probably just air being pushed in to the overflow tank. Not to much to worry about though.
