I was having a similar problem and where the more gas I gave the slower it would go, sometimes even backfiring. If I threw in neutral and restarted it was fine for 2 mins again. It was the comshaft positioning sensor wich is under the rotor. remove the cap and you will see the wires, the black part inder the metal circle deal.

96 Jimmy runs better in cold weather than warm

Hi Buc, have a look at all the intake manifold ducting and make sure nothing is broken and leaking air. Also make sure that all vacuum hoses are fitted tight and correctly and they are not loose, broken or cracked. It will be better to check each by disconnecting, checking and refitting. Let me know how you get on. Have a happy new year. Regards John

1975 351W with 2 bbl carb, runs great for about 10 minutes, then dies.

Chances are it is the ignition box on the fender. It controls the ground signal to the coil and the timing.
If you can duplicate the problem and get it to "not start" you could test the box. Otherwise it may be tough to troubleshoot.
There's a chance something is going on with the pickup coil in the distributor too.

96 GMC Jimmy starts okay but dies after about 10 minutes. It will start again after sitting for awhile, then dies again. Have changed the fuel filter and pump...any other ideas?

If you have replaced the fuel pump and filter I would still check the pump pressure when it wants to die. Check for any trouble codes in the system also.

Car cut off, won't restart, later cranks up fine , no fault code

had same problem with 2000 dodge ram. would run great then start to buck then die.let sit would start then same thing. it took some time for the crank shaft position sensor code to pop up. changed sensor (very easy) good ever since.
