Need a diagram that tells me what fuse controls what...only have the number on the fuse box lid

It looks like the "luggage compartment lid release" fuse (15A) is in the number 1 position within the luggage fuse box which is located forward of the battery

Go to ford owners manual and search your vehicle then go to roadside emergencies section the fuse box diagram is there and you can print it or store it on your phone

look on the inside of the fuse box lid / cover. I am honestly not familiar with the Ford Thunderbird LX but you should know that sometimes the diagram is on the lid / cover but it is the same color as the plastic lid itself and could be difficult to see or notice. The same goes for the fuse box under the hood.

Can you tell us which fuse is blown? If you can tell us which component isn't working, I'll try to find a diagram for it?

Inside most fuse boxes under the hood are diagrams on the fuse box outer lid or printed inside the cover of the fuse box. Check an auto repair manual like Haynes or Chilton brand at Pep Boys.

Also note that the diagram in your owner's manual shows the fuse location diagram (on page 5-116) oriented 180 degrees from how the fuse box sits under the hood. You would think this is intuitive but you'd be surprised! Fuse #3 will be on the right side of the fuse box.

Is the lid to your fuse box missing?
The AC fuses are 16, 23, 31, 39. The heater blower is fuse 20. It is hard to describe which fuses those are if you don't have the diagram that is molded in the underside of the fuse box lid, but 20 is the last fuse on the right in the second row.
On a '97, if your climate control computer has not failed yet, you are on borrowed time. The fix is easy and cheap. Google "Frontiernet Farm Boy Home" for detailed instructions on my web page.
