    No I havent

There is something called open loop and closed loop in the system. When the engine is at idle in park, the sensors are not active, when you put it in drive, they are active if the are HOT enough. Since this is happening when you put it in drive, it appears that the sensor is shorted out

ECT Engine Coolant Sensor may be reading a false high temp causing too lean injector command. A vacuum leak in the throttle body air intake tube or leaking vacuum line/hose or stuck open EGR valve can cause lean issues .

A lean code should have no effect on the transmissions ability to operate. Check tranny fluid level with vehicle running and in park on level surface. If fluid level ok, Scan transmission module for codes that may help in isolating this problem. If high mileage, possible tranny rebuild required

Have a 02 explorer it runs but won't move

Your explorer can have a very simple problem, this has happened to me before, there is a pin that holds the lever that is attached to the gear shifter and the lever on the side of the transmission. You will have to get under the suv to see it. The pin is tiny, when compared to the task it performs, they get old and fall off, disinigrate, etc.

this is assuming you have a good transmission. There may be a leak or your transmission may be getting hot, in either case your transmission may have run out of fluid which will also keep it from shifting.

I have a 1993 Ford Explorer that goes into high idle when I put in gear. It does this when the engine is hot or cold.

On some cars there's a speed sensor on the clutch or transmission. That might cause an idle problem.

Just changed the PLASTIC INTAKE on 2002 Ford Explorer its now has service engine soon. Pulling codes P0171, P0174, P0203. Does anyone know what this could be?

Check your work for vacuum leaks, can't have any

Replace the front oxygen sensors, if they have 100,000
miles on them That is the 171&174 along with vacuum leaks
& worn out slow sensors

PO203 ---is a #3 injector issue

Listen to hear if it ticks-- like the others & compare
OHM readings to the others

I have a 1998 Ford Explorer, 2wd, 4.0L SOHC 6cyl. It won't idle when cold. Once it's warm, it runs fine. Codes coming up is running lean. Could it be my coolant temp sensor?

Check for vacuum leaks. this is the main cause for lean codes. Definitely not the coolant sensor. Let me know there are other things also.

98 ford explorer running to lean, replaced fuel pump, mass air flow sensor and checked for vaccuum leaks. Any suggestions? we are at a complete loss at this point. Please help

spray carb/choke cleaner under intake on mating surface to lower intake. go around the whole intake, dont be shy but spray it.(motor running) does rpm change? if bad seal Usually rpm raises. if so replace intake gaskets, $22.00 parts. Is check eng light on? if yes code check it.although it will only read lean as it cannot detect air leaks. if no code or light carb cleaner is the way to check for air leaks. NOT STARTING FLUID!! I just finished this repair on my 98 tonight, 1-6-11 it runs great, idles also.

Goes into all gears & 4wd, but will not move or attempt to move.

check the fluid level, sometimes the torque converter will drain back into the transmission overfilling it and leak out over long periods of time

2002 explorer will not go into gears except park

This must be a 4X4?
Problem is in the transfer case since speedo is reading(this means outputshaft in trans is turning).
