I accidentally put automatic transmission fluid in the engine instead of engine oil. I have started the car, its a landrover freelander 1. Is it going to damage the engine and how do I drain it?

I'd drain it from the oil pan underneath the car. Fill it back up with engine oil and a can of Seafoam, drive it around for a day or 2 then drain it again. Replace the filter each time also. Think you'll be alright if you didn't do heavy driving with it in your engine.

Add fluid transmission

TRANSMISSION FLUID

Checking automatic transmission fluid

The 5R55N transmission does not have a transmission fluid dipstick.

Refer to your scheduled maintenance guide for scheduled intervals for

fluid checks and changes. Your transmission does not consume fluid.

However, the fluid level should be checked if the transmission is not

working properly, i.e., if the transmission slips or shifts slowly or if you

notice some sign of fluid leakage.

Transmission fluid should be checked and, if required, fluid
should be added by a qualified technician.

Adding transmission fluid

Add transmission fluid to the same tube you check the transmission fluid level. It will resemble the oil dipstick tube, only it's a larger tube that will accommodate a funnel to add additional fluid. It's important not to overfill the recommended level so try adding 1/2 quart at a time until the level is withing the markings on the transmission fluid dipstick.

2001 pontiac grand am se 3.4L v6 transmission slipping

David dont even waste your money on the transmission no slip fluid, its money you can put towards the new transmission. Once its slipping the stuff in the bottle is a waste of time. Learned this from past experiences, hope this helps. The reason the fluid is burnt is due to either worn friction disc or a fluid leak by the seals in the clutch pack causing the fluid to heat up and turn brown. Hope this helps.

Where do you put the automatic transmission fluid in

In the same hole the dipstick for the transmission is in. Small funnel works the best to minimize spillage. Also make sure you check the level of the transmission while the vehicle is in park and running and engine hot. Avoid over filling by adding small amounts at a time and re checking.

How to change 2002 isuzu transmission oil

If you added that much transmission fluid you really need to have that transmission serviced. To change the transmission fluid you have to remove the pan from the bottom of the transmission. If you are going to do this anyway, make sure you pick up the correct Type of transmission fluid and a transmission Filter and pan seal as all should be replaced at the same time. If the transmission is acting up already though you really need to have it serviced by a mechanic.

Adding transmission fluid to a 2002 pontiac grand prix se

I am not sure which engine you have on your 202 Grand Prix, but if you have the most common 3800 V6 this is where it should be. Look at the back of the engine compartment just to the left of the plastic master cylinder resevoir.
