You will not most likely bypass the key chip because the computer reads it to allow it to start. If you have a second key try it to see if it does the same. If it does the same thing, it probably not the key but the ignition switch that causing the problem.

Loss keys, found key that turns engine but it wont start is there a chip in key or a way to bypass the chip and start truck

Get exact Make/Model of vehicle. Search internet to see how to put BCM (body control module) in learn mode and code it for the key. (For example, some makers ask you to turn ignition on-off-on 3 times).

Where is the pats override button located? specific under dash location. 2002 Ford Explorer XLT 4WD

There is no PATS override button. PATS is Passive Anti-Theft System. It is a transponder chip in the key, and a transceiver ring around the ignition lock cylinder. The Ring looks for the correct chip in a key in order to allow the vehicle to start. A bypass or override button in the vehicle completely advantage of having the chip system and would render is useless in entirety.

System security

If you have a visible chip on the shaft of the key you probably need to change the lock cylinder. If there is no visible chip in the shaft of the key but you have a large plastic head on your key, you probably need a new lock cylinder halo ring.

if you have a computer chip on your key it could have some thing to do with the vat system there is a you tube video how to bypass the vat system look to see that the security light goes off when you turn the

When the word "security" is lit up on my dashboard, the car won't start. when that word disappears then it will start up. what does this mean and is there a way to bypass it?

The security system uses a sensor in the key switch that reads the chip in your key. There are about a dozen different chips.
If the chip in the key is weak, or the sensor in the lock is faulty, the computer won't "see" the right chip and not allow the car to start.

Have a problem starting from day to day. think a genric key could be a problem. runs fine once it starts. never had a key with a chip. disconnect batt. to reset computer and all is fine!!! how can this...

Does the starter turn over when you are trying to start before you remove the battery cables or do you have only dash lights and nothing else (not even a click). I don't believe you need a key with a chip for 2000 model, they have an ignition switch system that is basically synced to the lock cylinder and key. The ignition switch can go bad and you'll see the theft light flash on the dash. If you decide to install a new switch yourself, there is a 30minute process to reprogram the theft system to your key. It can be done by yourself, but you have to be there the whole time and need to have a battery charger hooked up while performing this operation.

Okay heres what happen my chip in my key fell out so car wont start noter what doo I do

research vats bypass on google. I had to bypass, you simply measure the resistance through the chip, go to radioshack and buy the resistors that add to that amount or withing 2%. cut the orange wire that leads to the ignition and install the resistors bypassing the vats permanently.

2000 Buick Custom - no response on inital start

that sounds like its the ignitionswitch is going bad on the car or its the ignition its self. it could also be a loose wire going to your starter.
